LOCATION: The Port of Olympia’s 13.3-acre East Bay District (“District”) is located adjacent to the East Bay of Budd Inlet and to downtown Olympia, which is easily accessible via I-5. Olympia is the state capital of Washington and the largest city in Thurston County, which is home to over 230,000 people. Regionally, Olympia is strategically located an hour south of Seattle and two hours north of Portland.
The East Bay District is bordered to the north by Marine Drive and the Port’s 700-slip Swantown Marina and Boatworks, to the west by Jefferson Street and the LOTT Alliance’s facility, to the east by Plum Street and the East Bay of Budd Inlet, and to the south by State Avenue and downtown Olympia. Downtown Olympia is the commercial, cultural, and recreational center for the South Puget Sound region and continues to strengthen that position with several development projects either recently completed or currently under construction, along with several others that are in the planning stage for the next market cycle.
The District is part of the Port Peninsula, which features the Port’s marine terminal, along with other Port districts, including the Market District, a vibrant mixed-use waterfront development that is home to the regionally popular Olympia Farmers Market. Additionally, the East Bay Promenade Trail is a 1.1-mile grade-separated jogging and biking path that runs along the East Bay of Budd Inlet out to the north point of Port Peninsula.
